Doulas are trained coaches/companions who support people throughout various life experiences.

While the birthworker-related definition of “doula” was originally coined in the US in the 1970’s, modern doula care has evolved to mean:

“a support person who works with people and families in their reproductive journeys, lending physical and emotional comfort, reassurance, information, and presence, usually through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.”

*Full spectrum doulas expand that level of support through loss, abortion, adoption, end of life, and more.

WHAT IS A DOULA?

While not everyone is familiar with the word doula, the role, has existed since the birth of humanity. Before we called them doulas, they were known as elders, healers, and shamans who used their lived experience and wisdom to support their community as companions during pivotal transitions in one's life journey.

Doulas can be trained in

  • Pregnancy, Labor & Childbirth

  • PostPartum

  • Sex & Sexuality

A birth doula provides guidance before, during, and after labor. Birth Doulas do everything in their power to create a beautiful, informed, and empowering birth experience for their clients. A birth doula will answer questions about pregnancy and the birth process, provide resources, help create a birth preferences list, provide laboring support and comforting touch to relieve pain, and provide early lactation support.

A postpartum doula is a professional trained to work with a new mother through the period after birth. The postpartum period, sometimes called the fourth trimester, is the first 6 weeks after the birth of your baby.

A sex doula is a trained professional that can help one receive pleasure, build confidence, navigate sexual trauma, and more at any phase of life.

As a mental health and spiritual doula I help clients gain the tools to create a lovely life that is balanced, filled with purpose, and confidence.

As an all encompassing “Life Doula” I am trained to support those who find me throughout many of the various twists and turns of one’s life journey.
